Paul envisions the church as part of God’s healing of the world and continually seeks to understand how God is calling us into that future.
In many ways, Paul had a very normal up-bringing, having grown up on Normal Avenue in Normal, Illinois. His father was on the faculty at Illinois State University and his mother was a music teacher. After graduating from Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana, Paul went to seminary beginning at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago and then graduating with a Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Paul has served Presbyterian churches in Plano, Texas; State College, Pennsylvania; Lincoln, Illinois; Stillwater, Minnesota; and New Canaan, Connecticut. He is thrilled to be back in his home state where he won’t be the lone Bears fan on Sunday afternoons. He is a sports junkie, rooting for the fighting Illini, Illinois Wesleyan, Occidental College, and all teams Chicago – except for one small hiccup - his undivided baseball loyalty to the St. Louis Cardinals. He is married to Jeannick Minet, who was born outside of Paris, but who grew up in Algeria and the south of France. Between them, they have four sons: Andrew, an attorney in Chicago with Duggan Bertsch; Ben, an attorney with Latham & Watkins in New York City; Derrick, a law school student at the University of New Hampshire, and software engineer & cyber security specialist with Lincoln Mutual in Dover; and Grant, who is the Regional Account Director for Dividend Finance/53 Bank and lives in Stamford, CT; two grandchildren, Mara and Jay, who live in Arlington Heights.
Geoff Duffy Director of Music Associate Director of Worship
Geoff is a native of the Pacific Northwest and was raised in the Evangelical Free Church. In his 20’s he joined the Roman Catholic Church, and over the past thirty years, has served as the Pastoral Assistant for Liturgy and Music in several Catholic parishes, including multi-ethnic congregations both in Seattle and on the south side of Chicago. He also spent a couple years with the Lutherans and is now enjoying his time with the Presbyterians in Winnetka! Geoff received his B.A. in Pastoral Studies from Southwestern College (KS), and a certificate in Scripture and Leadership Training from Seattle University School of Theology and Ministry. And just in case you are wondering about his musical training, he took private piano lessons for eleven years and started playing the organ in church when he was twelve.
Nancy Holly Director of Children's Ministry Youth Coordinator
I am so pleased to be serving WPC as the Director of Children’s Ministry. As many of you know I am very familiar with our children’s program from my years as a volunteer on the Children’s Ministry Team, and as an Elder for Children’s Ministry for two terms (6 years). One of my goals and vision for the program is building connections. I want our children to make connections with each other, our congregation, our worship, and our mission work.
Madeline Weston Director of Office Management Ministries
Madeline and her husband, Mark, have been members of our congregation for 26 years. Over the years, Madeline has served WPC on Session as the Elder for Worship; on the Pastoral Nominating Committee; and on the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee.
She has also been active over the past 25 years in our choir. Madeline taught senior high Sunday school for eight years and was a chaperone for one of the WPC senior high mission trips to Cuba.
WPC has been a cherished community for Madeline and her family. She looks forward to serving in this new capacity!
Phyllis grew up in Lake Forest and currently resides in Winnetka. She is the author of Nurturing Children Towards a Better World: A Working Guide for People of Faith, and has served on several committees of the Presbytery of Chicago. Together with Francisco Gutierrez, Phyllis raised six children…and a menagerie of scraggily pets…here in Winnetka.
