Letter from the Stewardship Committee

Dear Friends,

Our Stewardship 2026 Campaign celebrates the Open Hearts and Open Hands of everyone here
at Winnetka Presbyterian Church. As a community of faith, WPC welcomes warmly, gathers
together joyfully, worships deeply, thinks critically, and serves others devotedly.

Our faith community has been strengthened by Pastor Paul’s service. At his January retirement,
we will bid farewell with heartfelt prayers. As Paul says, the church is fortunate to have an
outstanding staff in Geoff, Nancy, Madeline and Greg, as well as faithful leaders on the Session
and Board of Deacons. In addition, the Presbytery of Chicago and a church consultant will aid
our discernment and transition process. And with support of the larger WPC family, we will
carry forward our mission to serve others through Christ.

Your annual pledge is vital to the church’s ability to meet an operating budget of $657,000,
which includes salary and benefits for our stellar staff, mission and outreach, education, youth
and adult ministries, music and worship, fellowship, deacons and session, building and grounds
and administrative expenses.

However, last year’s total pledges were under $490,000. This shortfall required the use of
endowment funds to make up the difference. To save our endowment from further depletion,
maintain our vital mission, and tend to our wonderful yet aging building, the Session is actively
securing ways to increase non-pledge revenue.

As WPC marks its 70th anniversary in 2026, we ask that you consider increasing your annual
pledge by a multiple of 70 (i.e. $70, $700, $1400, $2100, $2800). If our 60 pledging households
increased by these suggested amounts, we could ease the strain on our endowment by a range
of $4,200 - $168,000. Please prayerfully consider this request.

Remember, everything you do at WPC: attending worship, fellowship and small groups, helping
with mission projects, serving in leadership, and pledging a portion of your financial gifts is
welcomed and greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Susan Langan, Stewardship Elder
