WPC believes supporting youth-aged kids (6th – 12th grades) in their spiritual exploration, wrestling, and discernment is crucial to their development, and so doing blesses and inspires the entire community. Gathering middle and high schoolers in a safe and fun spiritual community together offers something important and meaningful: a loving and caring place to think about God, wrestle with the challenge of faith, lean on voices of wisdom, and discover purpose in the community and world.
WPC believes that young people are not only the future of the church, they are the church now! Our youth-aged kids help lead the whole congregation in worship, service to the community, and having fun together. Below are the regular opportunities to engage in youth ministry at WPC.
Junior and Senior High Youth Groups: Our first combined fellowship outing will be to the Richardson Corn Maze in Spring Grove, IL, on Sunday, October 13. We will leave shortly after worship and spend the afternoon traveling through the “World’s Largest” corn maze and enjoying the other activities that Richardson Farm has to offer. Following this, we will head to Harvest Time Orchards for some apple picking. It will be a fun day spent together outdoors, enjoying a beautiful fall day! An email was sent to all junior and senior high families, and we are encouraging this to be an intergenerational event. Everyone is welcome just let Nancy Holly know you are coming: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Spaghetti Dinner: Our annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Sunday, November 17. This is the first fundraiser for our junior and senior high youth during the 2019/2020 school year. We will need all hands on deck for this event to handle, ticket sales, event set up, serving, and kitchen help on the day of the event. Emails will be sent to all parents of junior and senior high families for shift sign-ups. Interested in being a part of this fun event with these awesome kids, please let Nancy Holly know: email@example.com.
