Winnetka Presbyterian Church believes youth are not only the future of the church, they are the church now! We work with youth in grades 7-12. We always encourage youth to bring their friends along to our events and gatherings, as all are welcome!
We don’t have to tell you how busy everyone’s lives are today. Youth especially have a tremendous amount of things to participate in, from extracurricular activities, to sports and music, to service opportunities and other types of clubs. All of these are wonderful and offer our young people ways in which they can grow and challenge themselves.
But here at WPC, we believe gathering together in spiritual community offers today’s young people something unique: a loving, caring and safe place to think about God, wrestle with their faith, and see how their story intersects with God’s story and hope for this world. Some of the key elements of our youth program include:
Youth Group: Our youth group meets on Sunday evenings from 7-8:30pm. This is a group open to all youth in grades 7 through 12, and we look forward to you joining us for a time of fellowship, fun, games and conversation.
Worship: We believe spiritual formation of our youth is a very important aspect of our program. A primary mode in which youth will be spiritually formed is through the communal worship with the church body. So we encourage all youth to attend worship at WPC at 9:45am on Sunday mornings. On any given Sunday, you will find youth involved in the worship service, helping to lead worship, singing in the choir and being a full participant in our weekly worship life.
We provide a variety of ways that youth might live out their faith in the world today. From service projects around Chicago, to week-long mission trips around the country, to international immersion mission trips, we have a history of service being an integral component of the faith journeys of our young people.
