Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC) Update
At a special congregational meeting on September 25, 2016, the congregation approved the formation of a Pastor Nominating Committee in accordance with the Book of Order. With the congregation and session near completion of the WPC discernment work including the Congregation Assessment Tool (CAT) and the church DNA exercise, the PNC anticipates moving forward soon with its initial task of submitting a Ministry Information Form for WPC for approval by the session and the Presbytery of Chicago’s Committee on Ministry. Once the MIF is complete, approved and posted, the PNC will move forward with its duty of identifying a pastor to nominate for election by the congregation. The PNC will work closely with representatives of the Presbytery as contemplated by the Book of Order and any nomination (and the terms of call) must be approved by the Presbytery and the congregation.
There is no formal time line for the process of nominating a pastor and experience teaches that the process of a call will take many months or even a year or more. Much of the PNC’s work of necessity will be done in confidence but we pledge to be good listeners to our fellow members. We are grateful for the thoughts, prayers, and support of the congregation as we prayerfully proceed with the duties of the PNC.
The PNC membership is as follows: Matt Baker, Jan Hubbard, Sandy McCausland, Judy McNett, Ro Miller, Tim Marshall, John Riddle, and Andy Langan
