Youth
Partners in Service

We are committed to serving in our local community, in the nation, and internationally.

We have an ongoing relationship with Interfaith House, where we serve and enjoy a meal with the residents recovering from hospitalizations. We also take part in the Souper Bowl of Caring, on that big football day in February (you know the one!). And, not to be forgotten, are our yearly mission trips. Most recently we traveled to Tennessee to partner with Sunset Gap Community Center in their work in Sevier and Cocke counties.  We travel to our sister church in Havana, the First Presbyterian-Reformed Church of Havana, biannually to work and serve with our Cuban sisters and brothers. We have also partnered with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, on a trip to South Carolina, and Habitat for Humanity in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Mission in Havana, Cuba

The summer of 2008 included our fifth trip to our sister church in Havana, Cuba.

For ten years, the youth of Winnetka Presbyterian Church have traveled every other year with adult leaders to our sister church,
First Presbyterian-Reformed Church of Havana, to work, serve, and worship alongside the youth of the Cuban church.

Fundraising

To support and help offset the costs of our yearly mission trips, we take part in a number of fundraising activities each year. Wonderfully supported events in our church are the fall Spaghetti Dinner and the spring Pancake Breakfast [March 21, 2010], which are also strong fellowship activities for our church community. New this year was a Trivia Night for the whole church, bound to become an annual tradition.  Other events to support our mission initiatives include summer car washes in May, June, and July!
