Service to the Church
PUPs: Presbyterian Usher Patrols
5th and 6th graders are paired with their parent to learn how to usher, hand out bulletins, take the offering, and clean up the sanctuary after worship. This is a way for our children to see that they are part of the church and can take responsibility for it too. Teams are formed for the first Sunday of each month during the school year when the children normally stay in worship for communion. We encourage each child to volunteer once or twice a year.
Christmas Eve family worship service
One or two families prepare and light the luminary outside along the church entryway prior to worship. Scripture reading and ushering opportunities are available for children to lead. This is a family friendly service and child care for Pre-school and younger is available.
K-6th graders present the birth of Christ with costumes and simple dramatic readings. Older children take the main characters and all children are welcome to participate, being animals, angels, townspeople, innkeeper, Mary and Joseph and the Three Kings. The children practice a song in the fall to sing as a choir during the pageant. Parents direct, supervise, help with snack and clean up. Epiphany Sunday in January is when the pageant is held yearly.
