Meet Our New Pastor Rev. Paul E. Gilmore
WPC’s New Pastor Elected
The weekend of December 1st through 3rd has been highly memorable for the people of Winnetka Presbyterian Church because the congregation met, and later, unanimously voted to accept the Rev. Paul E. Gilmore as their next Senior Pastor. Paul comes to WPC from the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, Connecticut, where he has served as senior pastor since March, 2010. Paul was accompanied on this trip by his wife, Jeannick. In the two days leading up to the congregational meeting, Paul met various representative groups of the church: the staff, the men in the Saturday Morning Men’s Group, and the children/youth/and their families. Paul and his lovely wife, Jeannick, also met church leaders both on Friday and Saturday night. Sunday morning, Paul preached on the gospel message of the day in his sermon entitled, “Turbulence.” In the congregational meeting following the service, the congregation enthusiastically and unanimously confirmed the PNC’s recommendation to call Paul, and we now await his beginning his ministry among us on February 14.
For those of you who have not met Paul, we can give you a very short summary here of his background. Paul grew up in Normal, Illinois, where his father was faculty member at Illinois State University. After graduating form Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana, Paul went to seminary beginning at McCormick Seminary in Chicago and then graduating with a Master in Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 1983. He was ordained in 1983. Since his ordination, Paul has served Presbyterian churches in Plano, Texas; State College, Pennsylvania; Lincoln, Illinois; Stillwater, Minnesota; and New Canaan, Connecticut .
Paul has two grown sons; one son, Andrew and his wife, Lauren, live in Chicago, with their 18-month-old daughter, Mara, Paul’s first grandchild. Paul’s other son, Ben, lives in West Harlem in New York City. Paul was recently married to Jeannick Minet, a native of France and Algiers with two grown sons of her own. Jeannick, has spent most of her professional life in finance. They look forward to their expected move to the Midwest and the North shore and joining with us in our shared ministry.
